Welcome to Mail Zero ("the Service"), operated at getmailzero.com. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

Mail Zero is a free, web-based tool that analyzes Gmail Takeout export files (.mbox and .zip archives). The Service extracts email metadata (sender addresses, dates, and labels) to generate analytics and visualizations about your inbox. The Service does not store, retain, or persist any uploaded data beyond the duration of a single processing request.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By uploading a file or otherwise using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years of age to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement.

4. User Responsibilities

  • Ownership of data. You represent and warrant that you own the email data you upload, or have obtained all necessary permissions and consents to upload and process it.
  • Lawful use. You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You shall not upload data that you do not have the right to process, or use the Service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations.
  • No malicious files. You agree not to upload files that contain malware, are intentionally malformed, or are designed to disrupt or overload the Service (e.g., zip bombs).
  • Accuracy of information. You are solely responsible for the accuracy and legality of the data you upload.

5. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, and branding, is the intellectual property of Mail Zero. Your use of the Service does not grant you any ownership rights in the Service itself. You retain all rights to your uploaded data.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components. We do not warrant the accuracy or completeness of any analytics results generated by the Service.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL MAIL ZERO, ITS OPERATORS, CONTRIBUTORS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO USE THE SERVICE (WHICH, FOR A FREE SERVICE, IS ZERO).

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Mail Zero and its operators from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in connection with: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any rights of another party, including any intellectual property or privacy rights; or (d) the data you upload to the Service.

9. Data Processing

Please refer to our Privacy Policy and Security page for detailed information about how your data is handled. In summary:

  • Uploaded files are processed in server memory only.
  • No data is written to disk, stored in a database, or retained after processing.
  • We do not log, sell, or share your email data with any third party.

10. Service Availability & Modifications

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time, with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
